Back in 1984, four burly, tattooed blokes from Sydney hit local stages with their brand of street punk rock. That band was Aberration; and their trajectory was not without controversy.
Although they never released any recorded material at the time, Aberration garnered strong support from a mostly punk and skinhead crowd due to their powerful and hard-hitting live shows. The band eventually split in 1986 without leaving behind any releases.
Fast forward nearly 35 years and a new version of the band was resurrected with Tony Bambach (Lime Spiders) joining on bass, Stuart Wilson (New Christs/Loose Pills) on drums and remaining original member Alan Creed on vocals and guitar.
The result: Tuckerbox; an album of songs from the original era of the band plus songs that were to feature in Creed's subsequent band, The Inchmen, who were around from 1986 - 1988.
There is punk rock, there is hard rock, as well as slices of melody and pop which had started to find its way into the material in the latter stages of the outfit.
"Man, it’s good to hear these songs after all these years. This is an absolutely smashing album and I for one love it. Hopefully there will be more live shows... Buy this album. It’s a must just for all you old Australian punks. - Ron Brown"
"Listen up: This is killer. Ten songs of sharp-edged, driving punk with lots of melodies." - The Barman, i-94bar.com
